Kia Motors kicks off global campaign to spur sales
SEOUL, May 20 (Yonhap) -- Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest
automaker, said Wednesday it has launched a promotional campaign worldwide to
boost sales amid the global economic slump.
Starting in Portugal, the "Kia on Tour 2009" road show will be held in more than
150 major cities in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia by the end of this
year, the automaker said in a statement.
"The show brings current and potential Kia drivers up close and personal with
Kia's latest models through customer test drives, multimedia games, sporting
events, giveaways and free vehicle check-ups," the statement said.
In the first-quarter of this year, Kia posted a net profit of 98 billion won
(US$78.3 million) due to a weaker local currency, while sales fell 5.8 percent to
3.5 trillion won.
Kia is an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's top carmaker.
