Registration for Amarnath yatra begins



Jammu, May 20 (PTI) Registration for the annual Amarnath
yatra, scheduled to commence on June seven, began Wednesday at
110 centres across India.

"Registration centres have been set up at different
branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in the country," Assistant
General Manager of the bank Arvind Gupta said.

The total quota of the registration through Jammu and
Kashmir Bank has been fixed at 2.85 lakh, he said adding
registration can also be done online.

In Jammu and Kashmir, registration counters have been set
up at exhibition grounds in Jammu, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri,
Udhampur and Kathua besides Dalgate and Cargo complex in
Srinagar city of the Kashmir valley.

The annual two-month pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high
holy cave shrine will conclude on August five.

Registration of pilgrims from the Pahalgam route will
close on August two while that for the Baltal route will close
on August four.

Last year, over 4.5 lakh pilgrims had participated in the
