GOVT TO IMPOSE VERIFICATION OF IRON, STEEL IMPORTS IN JUNE

Jakarta, May 21 (ANTARA) - Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said that the government was expected to begin imposing a regulation on the obligation of verifying steel and iron imports as of June 1, 2009.

"It is expected that the obligation to verify steel and iron imports would be imposed after the revision of the ministerial decree on steel and iron imports has been completed," the minister said here on Wednesday.

She said that the revision of the ministerial decree was now underway, and it was expected that she would have signed it this month.

The minister said that the verification ruling would take effect as of June 1, 2009.
