ASEAN STUDENTS CONFAB OPENS IN BANDUNG
Bandung, May 21 (ANTARA) - The first ASEAN University Student Conference of Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, China, Japan, and Korea was officially opened at the Merdeka Building here on Wednesday night.
The ASEAN University Student Conference held from May 20 to 24 is an event under a cooperation between the Youth and Sports Ministry coordinating with the ASEAN Secretariat, and supported by the ministry of foreign affairs, ministry of culture and tourism, state secretariat, and the coordinating ministry of people's welfare, and with the assistance of the West Java provincial administration and the Bandung city administration as the organizing committee.
Themed "Enriching & Preserving Our Cultural Heritage", the conference is expected to produce a Plan of Action covering a period of up to 5 years.
Based on the result of the ASEAN conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in June 2008, Indonesia which had forwarded the plan to hold the conference, was eventually appointed to host the forum.***
