MEGAWATI-PRABOWO SUCCESS TEAM INSPECTS DECLARATION SITE
Jakarta, May 21 (ANTARA) - The success team of Megawati Soekarnoputri-Prabowo Subianto presidential and vice presidential candidates took a close look at the preparation of the declaration site of the presidential and vice presidential pair in Bekasi, Thursday.
The Megawati-Prabowo pair will declare its presidential and vice presidential ticket at the Bantar Gebang garbage dump in Bekasi municipal town on Sunday (May 24).
"Theo Syafei (noted figure of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle-PDIP), Mochtar Mohammad, the organizing committee chairman for the Megawati-Prabowo presidential and vice presidential hopefuls and all organizing committee members were present at the location," Hasto Kristianto, the success team secretary, said here Thursday.
"Actually, all preparations were already complete, but since the committee has yet to visit the declaration site, how can they answer press questions?," Hasto said.
Hasto said further that the party raised the funds for the declaration including for setting up a media center, which will be inaugurated in Prapanca, Jakarta, on Saturday (May 23).
The two hour-declaration was expected not to hamper the operation of the garbage site, Hasto said.
Megawati, chairperson of PDIP, was president before Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was elected in 2004 while Prabowo is leader of the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) and a retired army lieutenant general.
Some 10,000 to 20,000 people were expected to attend the declaration function, Mochtar Mohammad said, adding the event would last about two hours. ***
