FLOODS INUNDATE HUNDREDS OF HOUSES IN MANADO
Manado, Indonesia, May 21 (ANTARA) - Hundreds of houses in the North Sulawesi provincial capital of Manado were inundated early Thursday after Tondano river overflowed.
"The floods followed heavy rains pouring down on Manado and environs overnight," local resident Indri Dunggio said.
The floods forced hundreds of residents to evacuate to mosques and churches.
In worst-hit areas, a number of houses were submerged by two-meter flood water.
Floods also hit the city in May 2008 when thousands of houses were inundated.***
