FOUR BODIES FROM HERCULES CRASH STILL UNIDENTIFIED
Madiun, May 22 (ANTARA) - The bodies of four fatalities in Wednesday's military C-130 Hercules plane crash in Magetan, Central Java, were until Friday still not identified.
"The four bodies are at the moment being kept in the morgue of Dr Soedono Hospital in Madiun," a hospital spokesman, Dr Dono Anondo, said here on Friday.
He said the bodies had been sent from the Air Force hospital at Iswahyudi military airbase to Dr Soedono Hospital to be kept in a freezer for an identification process later.
"The identification process will be carried out by Air Force forensic experts from Iswahyudi air base and a selected team," Dono Anondo said.
The C-130 Hercules aircraft which was on its way from Jakarta to Madiun, East Java, on Wednesday was carrying 110 military personnel and their families when it crashed into several houses on the ground and burst into flames, killing at least 101 people.
A team to investigate the accident has been sent by the Air Force but it has yet to explain the cause of the tragedy.
But experts said the accident could have been prevented if a bigger budget had been allotted for the upgrading of obsolete components of the ill-fated plane.
