GERINDRA TO GET TEN MINISTERIAL POSTS IF MEGAWATI WINS
Jakarta, May 23 (ANTARA) - The Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party will have the right to fill 10 cabinet portfolios if Megawati Soekarnoputri wins the presidential elections on July 8, the party's chief said.
The 10 ministerial posts to be given to Gerindra were defense, finance, fisheries and marine resources, trade, industry, agriculture, forestry, manpower, transmigration, state enterprises and the economic affairs coordinating ministerial position, Gerindra Party chairman Suhardi said here on Saturday.
Gerindra would coalesce with Megawati's Indonesia Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP) for the election while Gerindra's chief patron Prabowo Subiantoro would be Megawati's running mate.
Suhardi said on the sidelines of Gerindra national working meeting that other ministerial posts would be determined by Megawati and Prabowo.
Megawati plans to give Prabowo full power to handle economic affairs if she was elected.
"Prabowo is considered suitable and capable of implementing people-oriented economic programs," Suhardi said.
In the election, Megawati will compete against incumbent president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who will pair up with former economic chief minister and central bank governor Boediono and Jusuf Kalla, currently the vice president who will pair up with former army commander Wiranto. ***
