MEGA-PRO PAIR DETERMINED TO STRUGGLE FOR GREATER INDONESIA
Bekasi, Indonesia, May 24 (ANTARA) - Presidential hopeful Megawati Soekarnoputri and her running mate Prabowo Subianto declared their bid to contest the July 8 polls at Bantar Gebang landfill site on Sunday, expressing their determination to struggle for a Greater Indonesia.
In her address in the declaration ceremony, Megawati said she warmly welcomed any form of support from the farmers, fishermen, workers, scavengers, and traders who flocked the declaration site.
"So many supports have been given by the people of low-income bracket by flocking to Bantar Gebang to voice their deepest hope and optimism. Their voices have called me and Prabowo to work with them to build again a Greater Indonesia," she said.
Megawati further asked eligible voters across the country to vote for the Megawati-Prabowo pair in the July 8 polls.
Meanwhile, Prabowo expressed gratitude to the people for their attendance in the declaration ceremony.
He asked the audience to make sure that they had been registered in the fixed list of voters for the presidential polls.
The Megawati-Prabowo pair which is supported by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and the Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party is also determined to restore the people's sovereignty and improve their living standard through the people-based economy.
