GERMAN PARAGLIDER MESMERIZES SPECTATORS NEAR MANINJAU

Agam, W Sumatra, May 25 (ANTARA)- German paraglider Fitters showed his extraordinary skill in the air, flying like a bird back and forth over Maninjau town of West Sumatra mesmerizing hundreds of spectators on Puncak Lawang over the weekend.

The German athlete was one of 65 foreign paragliders from 14 countries who participated in an annual tourism event dubbed 'Fun Fly over Lake Maninjau 2009'that taok place from May 17 to 24, 2009," Agam District Head Isfaemal said.

Puncak Lawang is located some 1,210 meters above sea level, Isfaemal said, adding that Italy had also sent its noted glider, Claudio.

The foreign participants among others come from Germany, Italy, England, Australia, Austria, Canada, Japan, South America, India, Malaysia and host country Indonesia, Isfaemal said, noting that it was the tenth annual event in the region.
