INDONESIAN AND CHINESE AUDIT BOARDS REACH COOPERATION AGREEMENT
Beijing, May 26 (ANTARA) - The Supreme Audit Board (BPK) and its Chinese counterpart, the NAC, reached agreement on an audit cooperation laid down in a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
"The MoU serves as a basis or umbrella for the two countries to implement the audit cooperation," BPK chairmanm Anwar Nasution said in Beijing, Monday.
The MoU was signed by BPK chairman Anwar Nasution, and signing for his Chinese counterpart was general auditor Liu Jiayi.
Anwar said various agreement had been reached including on audits of corruption cases, audits relating to the global financial crisis, and audit on environmental matters.
With regard to cooperation in audit of corruption cases, he said the two countries had the same objective, namely corruption eradication once and for all, because these crimes posed a serious obstruction to development.
With regard to audit cooperation relating to the global financial crisis, the two countries agreed to coduct joint efforts in overcoming the global financial crisis.
Anwar in the meantime touched on Indonesia's experience, in conducting an audit of UN peacekeeping forces in Congo and Kosovo, and the Chinese side appeared to be interested to study of the Indonesian experience.
Under the audit cooperation, it is also possible for an exchange of visit by the auditors of the two countries to study the auditing system in the respective countries.
"The MoU serves as an umbrella of the audit cooperation between the two countries. Some technical problems will be further discussed by both sides," Anwar said.
