MEGAWATI, PROBOWO TO INSTALL ELECTION TEAMS IN JAVA
Jakarta, May 26 (ANTARA) - Presidential hopeful Megawati Soekarnoputri and her running mate Prabowo Subianto will tour Java to install their campaign teams in the island's provinces and districts, a spokesman said.
"We are concentrating on efforts to win the presidential and vice presidential race so we need to establish regional campaign teams," Fadli Zon, secretary of the Megawati-Prabowo success team, said here Tuesday.
The Megawati-Prabowo duo's tour of Java island will start on Saturday (May 30) and their itinerary includes Solo, Yogyakarta, West Java and East Java, Zon said.
"Megawati-Prabowo should have professional campaign teams in a bid to explain the 'people-oriented economy' program so that the people can understand," he said.
The "people-oriented economy" concept will come into being if Megawati-Prabowo win the July 8 race and become president and vice president for the 2009-2014 period, he said, adding that the concept aimed to improve the poor people's standards of living.
The Megawati-Prabowo pair put forward the "people-oriented economy" concept because the current economic mechanism had failed to stimulate the real sector's growth, Zon said.
Megawati was nominated by the Indonesian Democratic Party- Struggle (PDIP) and Prabowo by the Greater Indonesian Movement (Gerindra) Party. ***1***
