Energy Ministers discuss energy investments and access-Plan

Rome, May 27, SPA -- Energy Ministers have discussed at a key Rome
meeting the globally significant issues of energy investments and a
programme of action to increase energy access in developing
countries, with special focus on Africa.

This was disclosed in a joint statement issued by Energy Ministers
of the G-8 countries and their counterparts from Algeria, Australia,
Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Libya, Mexico,
Nigeria, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, South
Africa, and Turkey as well as the European Commissioner, who
concluded their deliberations on May 25.

"While recognizing varied national circumstances among the
participating countries, we agree that we must play an important role
in achieving global energy availability and access, while
contributing to sustainable development," the joint statement said.
