PRESIDENT CHAIRS MEETING ON GOVT`S 2010 PLAN OF ACTION
Jakarta, May 27 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono chaired a limited cabinet meeting at his office on Wednesday to discuss the government's 2010 Plan of Action (RKP).
The RKP 2010 had been discussed in four previous meetings since early this year to produce a document for the 2010 state budget.
The July 8 presidential election might produce a different government but President Yudhoyono had asked his cabinet to remain responsible in preparing the government's plan of action for 2010.
"Although the RKP 2010 and 2010 state budget will be conducted after the presidential election, we have an opportunity to prepare everything well," the president said.
He added the next two years would be an important period that needed hard work by the next government to free the country from the global financial crisis.
"Again I say that the RKP is of great importance, because we have to work hard in the next two years to overcome the impact of the global financial crisis," the president said.
Present at the limited cabinet meeting were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Aburizal Bakrie, Coordinating Minister for Economy Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Widodo AS, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto, Transportation Minister Djusman Safei Djamal, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, National Education Minister Bambang Sudibyo, and Defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono.
The increase in the budget for the Defense Ministry in 2010 was also part of the agenda of the limited cabinet meeting.
Earlier in the day, the president also chaired a consultative meeting withe House of Representatives (DPR) leaders to discuss the completion and passage of several bills.
The discussions and passage of the bills by the House was expected to be accomplished soon or before the end of the present House's and government's terms.
President Yudhoyono said the meeting was held to facilitate communication between the government and the DPR to get common views on matters recommended by a special team.***
