VP INSTRUCTS INDUSTRIAL ESTATES TO BUILD HOUSES FOR WORKERS

Tangerang, Banten, May 28 (ANTARA) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla has instructed all industrial estates and PT Jamsostek to build special housing complexes for their workers.

"I have instructed all industrial estates and PT Jamsostek to build special housing complexes for their workers so that they can save on housing and transportation costs," the vice president said at a function to hand the first key of special houses for workers of Griya Puri SPSI at Sukatani village, Tangerang, on Thursday.

The special housing complex for Griya Puri SPSI workers was constructed by SPSI in cooperation with private developers.

In addition, the vice president also ordered PT Jamsostek, State Minister for Public Housing Yusuf Asy'ari, Indonesian Real Estate Developer Association (REI), Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo), as well as regional governments to build special housing complexes for their workers.

According to the vice president, workers who live far away from their work places spent a lot of money on transportation and meals during work days.

Jusuf Kalla said if the housing complexes were built near the industrial estates, the workers' welfare would automatically be improved.
