Maitha, Zayed bin Mohammed attend Art of War FC 12 Invincible
Beijing - Under the Patronage of H.H General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Art of War Fighting Championship 12 (Art of War FC 12 Invincible) were held in the Chinese capital of Beijing.
In attendance of all the 12 contests held at the Beijing Olympic Sports Centre Auditorium were H.H Sheikha Maitha Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and Sheikh Zayed Bin Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan who received a warm welcome at the venue of the opening.
The world's top 24 MMA competitors from Uzbekistan, China, South Korea, USA, Finland and Japan, Sweden, Indonesia, Russia, Brazil and other countries engaged in enthralling series of mixed martial arts matches in the event which kicked off on May 23rd. Famous movie stars, television personalities, and leading sports and broadcasting industry leaders from around the world were the guests at the event.
A delegation of over 300 students, athletes, press representatives and martial arts fans from the United Arab Emirates were also in attendance. Also present were UAE Ambassador to China Mohammed Rashid Al-Bout and Ambassadors of other Gulf countries.
The Art of War 12 featured Chinese favourite Wu Hao Tian against Japanese fighter Yutaka Kobayashi and Rolles Gracie, of the world's famed fight family, facing Russia's Baga Agaev.
Wu Hao Tian emerged winner after defeating Kobayashi in a fierce and exciting match.
In a Heavyweight Superfight, Rolles Gracie of the legendary Gracie family faced tough Russian MMA veteran, Baga Agaev. In a welterweight Superfight, Art of War veterans Malik Arash Mawlayi of Sweden and Fransino Tirta of Indonesia squared off. Also, K-1 Heroes veteran and European Muay Thai sensation, Ole Baguio Laursen "Iron Fist" took on tough American wrestler, "Mighty Mouse" Shawn David.
Present also at the Art of War 12 was a star-studded array of MMA talent and persuasion. Guests include the Gracie quartet of Rickson, Royce, Royler, and Renzo; Dream Lightweight Grand Prix champion Joachim Hansen; former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia; veteran Jeremy Horn; Brazilians Fabricio Werdum, Thales Leites, Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro, Demian Maia, and Fabio Leopoldo, among others; the legendary Bas Rutten; pioneering broadcaster Stephen Quadros; American Top Team's Ricardo Liborio; and many, many others.
Later, Sheikha Maitha and Sheikh Zayed Bin Mohammed honoured winners of the Championship at a special ceremony. Sheikh Zayed held a dinner banquet in honour of the winners and the organizing committee.
The Art of War Fighting Championship is China's first professional freestyle kung fu tournament an exciting series of mixed martial arts matches between opponents representing every fighting style the martial arts has to offer. Nearly every major fighting style in existence originated or has been refined within China's borders.
