VP HANDS FIRST KEY OF SPECIAL HOUSES FOR WORKERS



Tangerang, May 28 (ANTARA) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla handed the first key of special houses for Griya Puri SPSI workers at Sukatani village in Rajeng, Tangerang district, on Thursday.

The housing complex for Griya Puri workers at Sukatani village was constructed by Indonesian Workers Association (SPSI) in cooperation with private developers.

SPSI chairman Syukur Sarto said the construction of the special housing complex for the workers was made in two stages.

He said in the first stage, 4,540 houses would be built on a 50-hectare plot of land for the workers and the second stage would also be on a 50-hectare plot of land but for the company's management staffers.

"At present, the vice president will hand the key of 34 unit of houses which have been completed," Syukur Sarto said, adding that following the vice president's presence at the location, the regional administration would soon open road and transportation facilities to the location.

On the occasion, the vice president instructed all industrial estates and PT Jamsostek to build special housing complexes for their workers.

"I have instructed all industrial estates and PT Jamsostek to build special housing complexes for their workers so that they can save on housing and transportation costs," the vice president said.

In addition, the vice president also ordered PT Jamsostek, State Minister for Public Housing Yusuf Asy'ari, Indonesian Real Estate Developer Association (REI), Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo), as well as regional governments to build special housing complexes for their workers.

According to the vice president, workers who live far away from their work places spent a lot of money on transportation and meals during work days.

Jusuf Kalla said if the housing complexes were built near the industrial estates, the workers' welfare would automatically be improved.

The vice president on the occasion was accompanied by State Minister for Public Housing Yusuf Asy'ari, Manpower and Transmigration Minister Erman Suparno, Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) chairman Sofyan Wanandi, Banten Governor Atut C, and Tangerang district head Ismet Abdullah.
