MEGAWATI NOT CONCERNED ABOUT HER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Jakarta, May 29 (ANTARA) - Megawati Soekarnoputri said she would not bother about the candidacy number to be determined by the General Elections Commission (KPU) on May 30 for the presidential election on July 8.

"To me all numbers, be it one, two or three, are good," Megawati said after opening a media center for her campaign here on Thursday.

Megawati, flanked by her running mate, Prabowo Subianto, and husband Taufik Kiemas, said that number one which could be symbolized by a thumb while two and three by a thumb and other fingers were all good as the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP, her party) once used in the past during the New Order era.

"So, God will certainly bless me and Prabowo," she said with a laugh.

Regarding the planned debate Megawati said she had formed a team for it.

"We have formed teams both for Megawati and me to meet the event," Prabowo said.

Prabowo said that Megawati and him would focus on economic development of the grassroot to increase the welfare of the people with a growth target of two digits.

Megawati will compete against Jusuf Kalla, the current vice president and the incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Kalla has chosen former military commander Wiranto from the Hanura Party to be his running mate while Yudhoyono's running mate for the race is economist Boediono.
