PERTAMINA PROPOSES CONVERSION OF PREMIUM TO GAS FOR PUBLIC VEHICLES



Jakarta, May 29 (ANTARA) - State oil/gas company PT Pertamina proposed for the conversion of the use of premium and diesel oil to gas for public vehicles in the transportation sector.

Head of the Pertamina Domestic Gas division Wahyudin Akbar said here on Thursday said at the beginning his side planned to make a conversion program in the region of Jakarta and surrounding area.

"We have submitted the proposal to the government," he said.

According to him, based on calculation, retrenchment to be gained by implementing the conversion program in Jakarta and its surrounding areas may reach Rp500 billion per year.
He further stressed the need for fund to buy converter kits may stand at Rp1 trillion, while the earning is about Rp1.5 trillion. "Practically there is a difference of about Rp500 billion per year."
The government seemed to give a positive response to the conversion program in Jakarta and its surrounding area.

At present, Pertamina has marketed LGV products with ViGas brand, even their use is limited.
