TRADE MINISTER LAUNCHES USE OF PRODUCTS FROM W SUMATRA

Padang, May 29 (ANTARA) - Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu launched the use of local products from West Sumatra especially in anticipation of the impact of the global economic crisis.

The launching of local products was carried out when opening an integrated working bourse at the premises of the province's gubernatorial administrative office here on Thursday.
According to him, the policy was seen positive, as it is one of the efforts to improve the people's economy which is currently sought under the central government's program.

However, in order to be effective in the use of local products, the government needed to heed the quality of local products like textile, footwear, bags and others.

"We are currently training small businessmen who have developed local products," she said.

In the meantime, secretary of West Sumatra Firdaus K said his province on the basis of the presidential instruction no 2/2009 had actually taken the follow up step by using the provincial products.
