SBY`S TEAM TARGETS 80 MILLION VOTES
Jakarta, May 30 (ANTARA) - The SBY-Boediono ticket's campaign team is targeting 80 million votes in order to be able to win the presidential election on July 8 in just one round.
The team's operations coordinator, Yahya Sacawirya, said on the sidelines of a national coalition gathering here on Saturday the team was optimistic the target would be met.
In the last presidential election in 2004 SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) who paired up with Jusuf Kalla won around 60 million votes.
"With SBY now pairing up with Boediono and being supported by 24 parties the target is realistic," he said.
Yahya who is also chairman of the success team for SBY's Democratic Party said that strategy, program had already been made to assure victory.
"The gathering of the national coalition for the SBY-Boediono ticket is one of the programs to unify vision and mission to win the election later," he said.
He saw number two, which was the SBY-Boediono ticket's election number, as a sign of victory. "Two means victory," he said.
Commenting on the number SBY said earlier that it was God's blessing. "We do not choose the number and therefore we must see it as a blessing," he said.
SBY meanwhile called on his supporters to win the election with civility, fairly and smartly. "Avoid slanders, black campaigning, attacks on personal character so that the victory is respectful," he said.***
