JAKARTA ANNIVERSARY FESTIVAL 2009 TO TAKE PLACE JUNE 4
Jakarta, May 30 (ANTARA) - Jakarta Anniversary Festival (JAF) VII will take place in Jakarta Art Building (GKJ) on June 4 through 30, 2009 in order to enliven the Jakarta's 482nd Anniversary, a spokesman said.
Beginning this year, JAF will be held annually in bid to preserve the Indonesian arts and cultures which have been enriched with the inclusion of elements from local cultures, artistic manager of Jakarta Art Building, Adi Reksodirdjo said here on Saturday.
"Jakarta's residents enthusiasm on arts and cultures is quite high, so that JAF is expected to entertain them," he said.
This event, he said, was also to provide educative and recreative entertainment for Jakarta's residents and people outside Jakarta to come and enjoy the Jakarta's birthday festivity.
Jakarta's governor Fauzi Bowo is expected to open the 2009 JAF
on June 4 with a display showing the Flamenco (Spain) music and dance in cooperation between GKJ and the Spanish Embassy.
The JAF will also present a number of national leaders and artists who live in Jakarta and in the regions, he cited.
The other shows of arts, cultures and musics in the JAF 2009 will include Javanese shadow play (Wayang Orang), and French Comedian culture, he said, adding that the organizing committee will also feature Emha Ainun Nadjib, a cultural observer. ***
