BEI INDEX OPENS 1.06 PERCENT HIGHER EARLY MONDAY

Jakarta, June 1 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (HSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) opened 1.06 percent higher here on Monday morning, on plantation and mining share gains.

The Indonesian stocks opened at the position of 1.937,145 or up 20.314 points, and the LQ45 index went up 5.071 points or 1.36 percent to 378.141 points.

Stocks at the US Wall Street closed higher at the trading session on Friday (May 29), recording gains over the past three consecutive months, thanks to the increase in commodity prices which boosted natural resource-based companies' shares, PT Valbury Asia Securities in its daily research analysis, said here on Monday.

Shares that gained at the BEI early Monday included Adaro Energi (ADRO) shares which went up Rp10 to Rp1,350, tin company Tambang Timah (TINS) shares which rose Rp30 to Rp2,000, Inco shares which increased Rp100 to Rp3,200, coal mining company Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) shares which added Rp350 to Rp11,600, and Bakrie Plantations shares that advanced Rp10 to Rp770 per share.

Besides, the BEI index was also boosted by share gains at the Wall Street, with Dow Jones index rose 1.15 percent (96.530 points) to the level of 8,500, leading a positive sentiment to the share transactions at the BEI.

The US stock gains bolstered regional bourses, such as Nikke 225 at the Tokyo bourse which advanced 75.08 points (0.79 percent) to 9,597.58 points, in the mid morning trading session, the Hang Seng index at the Hong Kong bourse that strengthened 353.719 points (1.95 percent) to 18,515.06, and the Straits Time index at the Singapore bourse that rose 35.220 points (1.51 percent) to 2,364.149 points in the early trading session on Monday morning.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) climbed 3.64 points, or 0.26 percent, to 1,399.53 in the first 15 minutes of trading, Monday. ***
