INDONESIA SUPPORTS PAKISTANI EFFORTS TO COMBAT TERRORISM

Jakarta, June 3 (ANTARA) - The government of Indonesia extended its support to any efforts made by the Pakistani government to constantly combat terrorism and militancy in that country.

The support, according to a release from the Indonesian embassy in Islamabad on Wednesday, was given by Indonesian ambassador to Pakistan Ishak Latuconsina during his meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi at that country's foreign ministry.
In the meeting, the ambassador also expressed his sympathy with the sufferings of the Pakistani people who had to be evacuated after the military aggression into Taliban stronghold recently.

In response, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood expressed his high appreciation to Indonesia over the harmonious and good relations between the two Muslim countries both regional and international fora especially under the framework of the OIC.
The two countries also put emphasis on the need for them to focus more on efforts to enhance and strengthen economic cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.

As a manifestation of solidarity and sympathy of the Pakistani people in the post military onslaught against the Taliban tribe, a staff of the Indonesian embassy in Islamabad had sent relief aid from officials of the embassy for the refugees.

For this, Minister Shah Mahmood extended his gratitude and appreciation over the care and sympathy.

Following the request of the Pakistani government to many countries for more fund to relieve the sufferings of the refugees, Ambassador Ishak said his side had contacted the Indonesian government in Jakarta. ***
