HOUSE HOPES FOR ENHANCED RI-NETHERLANDS RELATIONS

Jakarta, June 4 (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Muhaimin Iskandar hoped the RI-Netherlands bilateral relations could be further enhanced.

He made the statement when visited by Dutch Senate Chairman Y.M Yvonne Timmerman Buck at the Parliament building here Wednesday.

On the occasion, the House deputy speaker was flanked by House faction chiefs Simon Patrice Morin, Cecep Syarifuddin, and Marcus Silano.

Muhaimin Iskandar briefed his guest on the life of the Indonesian government. Indonesia is pursuing a two-chamber system, he said.

In the meantime, Simon Patrice Morin said the current political situation in Indonesia is different from it was ten years ago. Democracy in Indonesia had advanced very rapidly in the post-New Order era.

"The relations between the legislative and executive in Indonesia are now different from those during the New Order era. Now the two are playing decisive roles," he said.
