JK, WIRANTO MEET RECTORS OF ISLAMIC COLLEGES

Bandung, June 4 (ANTARA) - Presidential aspirant Jusuf Kalla (JK) and his running mate Wiranto met with the rectors of several Islamic colleges and Islamic mass organizations here on Thursday.

The purpose of the closed-door gathering at Manglayang room of Horison Hotel was considered part of JK-Wiranto's effort to gain greater support from the West Java community for his bid in the upcoming July 8 presidential election.

When Jusuf Kalla and Wiranto arrived at the hotel, they were greeted by Bandung Gunung Jati State Islamic University (UIN) Rector Nanat Fatah.

At the gathering which was attended by House of Representatives member from the Crescent Star Party (PBB) faction Ali Muhtar Ngabalin and a number of rectors from other Islamic state universities in West Java, Kalla and Wiranto made a consolidation with West Java Rainbow Team for their election victory in the province.

Besides meeting with the rectors and the leaders of other Islamic mass organizations, Kalla and Wiranto will also meet with West Java Village Elements Association at Balai Sartika Convention Hall in the Buah Batu area, and visit Darul Fallah Islamic boarding school at Cihampelas later in the day.

Meanwhile, the success team of the JK-Win presidential ticket in Bangka district was determined to fight for the duo's victory in the July election.

"JK-Win is an ideal duo for president and vice president in the 2009-2014 period and thus we will make every possible effort to help the pair win the upcoming presidential election," the team's spokesman, Rendra Basri said in Sungailiat, Bangka, on Wednesday.

He said the 50-member team would try to convince all people in all sub-districts and villages in Bangka that the JK-Win pair was the right choice for them in the election.

"The JK-Win duo is ready to compete in a sportsman-like way with the two other pairs , Megawati Soekarnoputri and her running mate Prabowo Subianto (Mega-Pro), and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his running mate Boediono (SBY-Berbudi)," Rendra Basri said.

He said the team would try to introduce JK-Win's people-oriented economic programs to the people in Bangka.

Basri said they would join their friends from Wiranto's People's Conscience (Hanura) Party who had a high commitment to working for the victory of the JK-Win duo.
