PRESIDENT PRESENTS ENVIRONMENT AWARDS

Jakarta, June 5 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono presented Kalpataru, Adipura and Adiwiyato Mandiri environmental awards at the palace on Friday, to mark the commemoration of Environment Day.

Environment Minister Rachmat Witoelar on the occasion said the awards were given to those who had contributed to environment preservation and improvement.

The Kalpataru awards were given based on various categories such as enviromental pioneering, service, development, protection and others to recipients from across the country.

The Adipura awards meanwhile were given to city adminitrations and the Adiwiyata Mandiri to schools.
