VICE-CONSUL OF AZERBAIJAN`S CONSULATE GENERAL IN LOS ANGELES ATTENDS 4TH “NEW SILK ROAD CONFERENCE” IN CHICAGO

Baku, 10 June (AzerTAc). Vice-Consul of Azerbaijan`s Consulate General in Los Angeles Elshan Baloglanov attended the fourth “New Silk Road Conference” held Monday in Chicago, the U.S.
Addressing the event, Baloglanov told of the history of Azerbaijan`s oil industry, the country`s contribution to global energy supply, the “Contract of the Century”, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines.
“In addition to delivering its own hydrocarbons to western markets, Azerbaijan is ready to act as a transit route to assist other Caspian littoral states to transport their energy resources”, Baloglanov emphasized.
He noted the Azerbaijani government uses oil revenues to develop non-oil sector in the country. To achieve efficient use of the revenues, the government set up some structures including the State Oil Foundation, AZPROMO and Azerbaijan Investment Company.
Turkish Consul General in Chicago Kenan Ipek and representative of the Chicago office of the U.S. Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank) Barry Bint spoke at the event, as well.
