AZERBAIJAN HAS STRONG DEFENSE SYSTEM TO PROTECT ENERGY SECURITY, NATO OFFICIAL
Baku, 10 June (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan has a strong defense system to protect energy security and the country is playing a very important role in the world as an oil producer, said Michael Gaul, head of NATO Defense and Security Economics Directorate.
According to him, therefore, Baku was chosen to host conferences and seminars for discussions on expanding cooperation among countries of energy transit.
As to NATO`s role in protection of regional energy pipes, Gaul said it is an interior affair of countries. “Because pipelines are national infrastructure of the region”, he stated. The NATO official added if member nations offer the organization can help to provide security of pipelines.
