Qatar Participates In Regional Conference In Cairo On Social Care Policies

Cairo, February 27 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the first regional conference on social care policies and achieving social security, which kicked off Sunday in Cairo, Egypt, for two days. The State of Qatar was represented at the conference by a delegation from the Ministry of Social Development and Family headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Social Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development and Family Ghanem Mubarak Al Kuwari. The conference, organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity in partnership with the Arab League and UNICEF, aimed at exchanging visions and practical ideas on social care policies and the means to achieve social security in light of current changes. In addition, the conference discussed the reality of social care policies for vulnerable groups, especially orphans and people with disabilities. The conference discussed the regional and international practices related to implementing social care policies and world countries' expertise in alternative care systems, in addition to formulating a future vision for social care policies to achieve social security. The conference comes within the framework of adopting the concept of sustainable development, which is concerned with developing social policies to promote the community while emphasizing the private sector's contribution as an expression of its social responsibility. This came within the framework of confronting social marginalization contexts, achieving sustainable development, expanding the scope of providing basic needs, and ensuring the integral rights of children and all categories of persons without care. The conference saw the participation of a number of Arab Ministers for Social Affairs; representatives of relevant Ministries in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, universities, institutions, specialized councils, governmental authorities, and civil society institutions; local and international donor NGOs; and a group of experts and public figures interested in the field of social security.
