JK-WIRANTO PAIR OPTIMISTIC THEY WILL WIN IN BALI
Denpasar, June 11 (ANTARA) - Presidential candidate Jusuf Kalla and his running mate Wiranto (JK-Win duo) are optimistic they will win the upcoming July 8 presidential election in Bali.
"I am optimistic we can win because the staunchly religious people of Bali always tend to act in accordance with their conscience," vice presidential candidate Wiranto said here on Thursday.
Wiranto made the remark during a dialog campaign before local community figures, small micro and medium businessmen, tourism businessmen at the Sanur tourist resort.
In his dialog campaign, Wiranto said Jusuf Kalla and he would make Indonesia a self-reliant nation in economic, social, and cultural fields in order to compete with other countries.
"Our competitive power at present is very low. A lot of goods we have in the country are from other countries such as China. We should not let this situation continue," Wiranto said.
He asserted that Indonesia was rich in natural resources and human resources, and therefore these things should make Indonesia superior and have higher competitive power than other countries.
Indonesia, according to Wiranto, should have national resilience, economic resilience, cultural resilience, social resilience, and overall resilience that could make the country difficult to be influenced by foreign elements.
"The issue of defense is not merely a matter of armament and war, but in the wider sense it deals with cultural, social, economic, and even total defense," said Wiranto, a former National Defense Forces (TNI) chief.
According to him, no country in the world wanted to make war, even no country would ever attack Indonesia.
"It is nonsense. A war needs a big amount of funds and it should face with international consequence. Therefore, a war is not likely to happen," Wiranto said.
He asserted on the occasion that there should be a change in the bureaucratic sector, governance management system, and serious democratic system for Indonesia to be an independent and self-reliant country.
