Doha, March 03 (QNA) - In their editorials issued on Friday, Qatari newspapers highlighted the active diplomatic role of the State of Qatar in all regional and international arenas, and the advanced position it occupies in dealing with all the various issues, crises and challenges that the world is witnessing. The newspapers also shed light on the international efforts led by Qatar in supporting the least developed countries to face the successive global challenges, especially those that are manifested in cooperation with the United Nations. The newspapers noted that the Fifth United Nations Conference of the Least Developed Countries (LDC5), which will be held in Doha, from 5 to 9 March, reaffirms Qatar's commitment to partnership and cooperation with the United Nations to strengthen the said in its editorial today, titled "Doha leads international efforts to support the least developed countries" that Qatar has become a model of international cooperation and multilateral action, as the United Nations confirmed the distinguished Qatari roles in favor of the settlement of global security, peace, stability, and bring about positive change in marginalized communities around the world. Al-Raya said pointed out that since joining the United Nations more than 50 years ago, the State of Qatar has been one of the biggest supporters of the international organization. In this regard, Al-Raya stressed that the coincidence of the opening of the United Nations House with the Fifth United Nations Conference of the Least Developed Countries adds new dimensions to the relationship between the two sides, foremost among them is the commitment to this partnership and cooperation to strengthen the foundations of multilateral collective action in a manner that responds to the aspirations and aspirations of the peoples of the world. The newspaper concluded by saying that the State of Qatar has proven its role as a major partner in efforts to respond to the needs and priorities of the least developed countries, and it continues to play a distinguished role in the various fields that serve these countries. In this context, the newspaper referred to the intense diplomatic activity that took place yesterday, Thursday, whether within the framework of the State of Qatar's strategic partnership with the United Nations or in its presence on the international scene, including the participation of HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, in a summit-level meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement's Contact Group to Address the COVID-19 Pandemic on post-pandemic global recovery, in Azerbaijan's capital city of Baku. The newspaper added that Geneva is also witnessing a wide movement of Qatari diplomacy, with a delegation led by HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater through its participation in the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva and her many meetings on the sidelines of the session, most notably with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. In addition to the agreements signed in Geneva between Qatar Charity and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide aid to meet the most urgent needs of over 50,000 forcibly displaced families in Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Yemen, in the presence of HE Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar Charity Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani. The newspaper also highlighted Doha's preparations to host the United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, noting that a ceremony for raising the United Nations flag took place yesterday, Thursday, at the Qatar National Convention Centre, in preparation for the launch of this global event on Sunday, in addition to the opening ceremony of the "United Nations House" and the signing of the agreement related to its administrative arrangement, so that the UN offices can start their work at the headquarters, which contributes to strengthening the partnership of the State of Qatar with the United Nations, specialized agencies and other organizations at the international multilateral level. The newspaper concluded by saying that all these events confirm that Qatar has become a symbol of international cooperation and multilateral action and that it is a distinguished strategic partner of the United Nations and has outstanding contributions in favor of the desired goals for the good of humanity.
In turn, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula highlighted, in its editorial issued today under the title "Sustainable future for generations", Doha's hosting of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5), from March 5 to 9., as well as the United Nation's House inauguration on the sidelines of the conference . The newspaper also referred to the international conference on Innovation and Technological Advances for Sustainability (ITAS) organized by the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) on Thursday, as well as the first international conference of its kind on climate change and human rights, which concluded its activities. The newspaper noted that Qatar is also striving to provide with international platforms, and within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030, for researchers, academics, students, policymakers, industry leaders and government officials to explore new ideas, techniques and tools to implement the United Nations SDGs and ensure a sustainable future for upcoming generations. The newspaper concluded by saying that all these events indicate that Qatar is indeed a pioneer in promoting relevant regional and global issues to ensure a safe, secure and healthy environment for all. For its part, the Qatari newspaper Al-Watan highlighted the first edition of the International Conference on Innovation and Technological Advancement for Sustainability (ITAS). The newspaper said in its editorial issued today, entitled "Promoting the innovative environment" that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani attended on Thursday the conference, as His Excellency watched a documentary on innovation and sustainability in Qatar and the most important progress and technological development that contributes to economic, social, and environmental development. His Excellency also honored the winners of ITAS Arab Youth Competition 2023. The newspaper reported the tweet of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior on his official account on Twitter, in which His Excellency expressed his happiness at launching the International Conference ITAS, in a vital step to enhance the innovative environment in Qatar, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The newspaper stressed the importance that the State of Qatar attaches to sustainability in various fields, noting that it has signed many international treaties and agreements in the field of climate change and sustainable development, which shows the importance of preparing a strategy to manage the risks of climate change.
