Qatar Red Crescent Society Conducts Two Medical Convoys to Bangladesh in Support of Low-Income Groups

Doha, March 05 (QNA) - The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) sent two medical convoys to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, to perform general surgery and cardiac catheterization operations for children at Teknaf Hospital in Cox's Bazar and the National Center for Cardiology in the capital, Dhaka. The two medical convoys, consisting of volunteers from Hamad Medical Corporation and Sidra Medicine, aim to perform free surgeries and catheters for low-income groups of refugees in the camps and the local community in these poor areas. As soon as the medical team arrived in Bangladesh, it immediately began performing cardiac catheterization operations for children. During the first day, it performed 17 operations at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, out of a total of 90 targeted operations for children with congenital heart defects, at a cost of USD 179,135. In parallel, the general surgery convoy team arrived at Teknaf Hospital and met with the hospital administration to discuss the work plan, review the operating room equipment and the medical consumables store, and examine the patients who will be operated on, with a total of 140 surgeries, at a cost of USD 83,751. The two convoys are scheduled to continue until March 9, as these surgeries are carried out in cooperation with the local partner, the Bangladesh Red Crescent. (QNA)
