Locally, the papers shed light on the cybersecurity educational curriculum which was launched by the National Cyber Security Agency in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, with the aim of spreading awareness in the society in general, and among children and adolescents in particular, of the concept of digital citizenship and the responsible, ethical and safe use of information and communication technology.
In its editorial entitled "Doha Conference... Vision for More Prosperous Future", Al-Sharq said that thousands of participants in various working groups have been engaged in wide and rich discussions on the Doha Program of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the Decade 2022-2031 since the kickstart of the 5th UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha.
Doha Program of Action was adopted in March last year, as a document that guarantees basic foundations for development in the least developed countries, and enables them to build their potential to move at a steady pace towards development, despite the challenges that these countries may face in path to achieving the ambitious development goals, the paper explained.
The ambitious Doha Program of Action, through its six pillars, has become a clear road map to support the least developed countries, especially in terms of combating poverty, facing the repercussions of climate change, and enhancing the participation of these countries in international trade, through a global partnership and various forms of support provided to the least developed countries, while establishing the broadest possible coalition of multi-stakeholder partnerships, Al-Sharq added.
Al-Sharq pointed to the wide attention to HH the Amir's speech which expresses Qatar's vision and direction in supporting development efforts, its belief in international cooperation and multilateral teamwork, and its commitment to supporting the least developed countries politically and economically. This attention emphasizes that HH the Amir's speech presents a model of moral responsibility towards achieving sustainable development in the least developed countries to reach a fairer and safer future, the paper said.
Meanwhile, Al-Watan pointed to the significant participation in the 5th UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha. In its editorial entitled "Improving Education and Skills", the paper said that UN officials and participants in Doha conference called for making global commitments to implement the Doha Program of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the Decade 2022-2031 which was adopted unanimously last year, as the conference provides a significant opportunity to confirm commitments and launch specific support measures for the least developed countries.
The participants in the conference underlined that Doha conference will set very high standards in ensuring the inclusive participation of all major stakeholders, and the United Nations' commitment to the Doha Program of Action as a main mechanism in implementing plans, programs, activities and events, the paper added.
The participants also called for improving education and developing skills in order to create change and progress in the least developed countries that leads to the achievement of the sustainable development goals, the paper noted.
By hosting this important conference, Qatar has offered a valuable opportunity to discuss ways to address the most pressing challenges facing the least developed countries. Everyone hopes that this conference will be an opportunity to implement the Doha Program of Action as it presents an integrated road map that will lead to the major change these countries aspire to, Al-Watan concluded.

In its editorial, Al-Raya said that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to cybersecurity issues and the protection of national vital information infrastructure, as the country seeks to provide a secure information environment for various sectors to provide integrated electronic services.
In this regard, the State of Qatar decided to take additional steps to introduce digital and technological methods in all details of life, especially for school students, the paper said.
The newspaper noted that under the auspices of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, the National Cyber Security Agency launched the Cyber Security Curricula Education, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, with the aim of spreading awareness in society in general, and among children and adolescents in particular, of the concept of digital citizenship, which is represented in the responsible, ethical and safe use of information and communication technology.
The daily underlined that the Qatari keenness in cybersecurity and countering cyber attacks made it continue its efforts to upgrade all its public and service facilities, in order to protect and immunize them, especially in light of the development of communication means and their ability to launch organized attacks against countries and companies.
The paper stressed that the issue of cybersecurity has become a Qatari priority, as the state seeks, in addition to educating society about the dangers of the Internet, to train its various segments and qualify them to know the basics of protecting personal data, in addition to raising awareness of general concepts related to cybersecurity and cyber safety and preparing a future generation of Qatari youth capable to deal efficiently and safely with technological tools, noting that Qatar seeks to build a local safe and digitally empowered community through several initiatives and projects.
The paper explained that the Cyber Security Curricula Education, launched by the State of Qatar, is a pioneering national project, as it is the first of its kind in the region, in terms of targeting students in the school environment, and directing it to each age stage with content commensurate with the degree of awareness it enjoys, in addition to the orientation for people with special needs, parallel education and literacy, to ensure the dissemination of cyber awareness in the entire society.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar's keenness in cybersecurity and its keenness to prepare qualified national cadres to protect cyberspace bore fruit, especially during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, when national cadres succeeded in securing the tournament without any problems, as they had an active role in protecting the most successful tournament in the history of the World Cup.
Under the headline "Kicking out diabetes", English-language newspaper The Peninsula referred to the Ministry of Public Health's announcement of the implementation of KiDS Diabetes Awareness programme in several schools in Qatar, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Sanofi Pharmaceutical.
According to officials, the main objective of KiDS programme is to raise awareness in schools about the prevention of type I diabetes and how to manage it, with a focus on the risk factors associated with type II diabetes, the paper said, adding that schools can advocate for and support children with diabetes by understanding their monitoring and treatment needs, assisting with appropriate food choices, promoting physical activity, among other considerations.
The Peninsula concluded that initiatives like this go a long way in raising awareness about the disease and preparing parents, caregivers, teachers and patients to understand and manage the disease to ensure longer and healthy life. (QNA)
