NCSA Holds Discussion Session, Awareness-raising Pavilion on Margins of UN Conference on LDCs

Doha, March 08 (QNA) - The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) is taking part in the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), which is being held in Doha. Its participation is through a pavilion to introduce conference's participants and Qatar's visitors to the NCSA's role in securing and preserving cyberspace in the country.
On the sidelines of the conference, the NCSA held a discussion session entitled 'National cyber readiness and methods of management and awareness', in which it shed light on cyber risks and methods of managing and raising awareness about them in the LDCs.
The discussion session touched on several topics, the most important of which are cyber capabilities and readiness, necessary plans to raise the level of cyber readiness, and the development of policies and strategies to protect digital infrastructure, in addition to activating the role of academic institutions and research centers.
Director of the NCSA's International Cooperation Department Ibrahim Khalid Al Mahmoud affirmed the NCSA's keenness on participating in the conference and supporting the cyber security capabilities of the LDCs by holding a session aimed at enhancing visions and presenting Qatar's experience, in addition to providing attendees with a training bag with cyber security awareness courses.
The size, level and scope of cyber threats targeting the critical services and infrastructure of countries, especially the least developed ones, is increasing rapidly and outweighs the defensive measures of those countries, he said, noting that the attacks at the present time require concerted international efforts and their focus on transferring the state of these institutions from cyber insecurity to cyber readiness by understanding the risks they face at all levels and developing comprehensive strategies for national cyber security.
Through its participation in the Fifth United Nations Conference on LDCs, the NCSA seeks to highlight cyber risks, methods of managing them, and raising awareness about them in the LDCs along with introducing participants in the conference with the Agency's pioneering role in securing and preserving cyberspace in Qatar as well as its future aspirations to enhance international efforts to support the LDCs in the cyber field.
