Qatar Chamber Discusses Enhancing Commercial Cooperation With Gambia

 
Doha, March 13 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber (QC) discussed with a Gambian commercial delegation enhancing the economic and commercial cooperation and means to enhance them and ways to bolster cooperation between the private sector in both countries. This came during the meeting between QC Assistant Director General for Government Relations and Committees Affairs Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansouri and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment of Gambia Lamin Dampha and his accompanying delegation. Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansouri said that there is a strong desire from the Qatari side to develop commercial relations with its Gambian counterpart, noting that there are multiple opportunities for partnerships and alliances between Qatari and Gambian businessmen. Al Mansouri pointed out Qatar Chamber’s keenness to develop cooperation with the Gambian side, noting that there is an agreement signed with the Gambia Chamber of Commerce to boost cooperation and another MoU to establish a joint business council. He affirmed the importance of activating these agreements and increasing the mutual visits between both businesspersons of both countries and strengthening relations between the Qatari private sector and its Gambian counterpart. He gave an overview of the role of the Qatar Chamber in the business community, and the services and activities it makes to safeguard the interests of businesspersons and promote the national economy and the Qatari private sector abroad. In turn, Lamin Dampha said that the delegation’s visit aims to enhance commercial cooperation with Qatar and discuss means to develop businesses between the Qatari and Gambian private sectors. He called on Qatari investors to visit Gambia which offers plenty of investment opportunities to learn about these opportunities, indicating that Gambia is a member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) which is a large market for more than 300 million populations. He expressed his aspiration to see Qatari investments in Gambia in various sectors which offers various incentives for investors, indicating that Gambia is keen to enhance trade exchange with Qatar and supply Gambian products to Qatar.
