National Team For Child Protection Against Violence Organizes 3rd Awareness Workshop "Better Together"
Doha, March 21 (QNA) - The National Team for Child Protection against Violence organized today the third awareness workshop entitled "Better Together", to educate children and adolescents from 10 to 18 years old about their rights, duties, and proper upbringing, at the National Service Academy. Head of the National Team for Child Protection against Violence Professor Khalid Mohammed Al Ansari pointed out that the workshop aims to educate children and adolescents on building a sound culture that is consistent with our religion and values and to protect them against the risks they are exposed to, which have been aggravated by the negative content on social media and lack of censorship. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts of all concerned authorities in Qatar, explaining that "Better Together" was chosen as the title of the workshop, emphasizing the importance of cooperation to achieve goals related to protecting young people. "We are guided by Qatar National Vision 2030 and its goals especially those related to the pillars of social and human development. Caring for children, protecting, and raising them properly based on religious and moral values requires hard work and cooperation between all concerned entities in Qatar, embracing innovations and developing best practices in this aspect, he said. For his part, Head of the Moral Guidance Department at the National Service Academy Mohamed Yahya Taher, explained the importance of the workshop in protecting young students, especially in this period of globalization, explaining that by protecting children from destructive extraneous ideas, such workshops contribute to protecting society. The program of the awareness workshop "Better Together" was developed in collaboration among the concerned entities in Qatar and with the participation of social, educational, and mental experts specialized in this field. Abdulrahman Al Kadmani, a psychologist at the Behavioral Health Support Center, spoke about the importance of fulfilling the societal duty by providing correct information to children and adolescents from reliable scientific sources. Ms. Fai Al Hajri, a social specialist at the Naufar, discussed the risk of psychotropic substances abuse, ways of prevention, and the center of Naufar and the services it provides. Family Advisor at the Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs Dr. Muhammad Abdul Latif Al Nuaimi provided key information on educating adolescents within the framework of religious teachings, social standards, and moral values in society, adding that the Islamic approach is the key to leading a sound and stable life, preventing one from emotional distress accompanied by a loss sense of self. Youth Advisor at the Ministry of Culture and Youth Dr. Issa Al-Horr also discussed religious, social, and cultural identity and the need to preserve from foreign intervention. First Lieutenant Mohammed Abdullah Al Naama, Officer of the Awareness and Information Section at the Juvenile Police Department, discussed the importance of educating children on prominent disruptive behavioral issues that they may face in adolescence and the role of the Juvenile Police Department in addressing these issues. First Lieutenant Khalid Al Shammari, Awareness Officer in the Community Police of the Ministry of Interior, explained that the course is in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Interior, aiming to enhance the relationship with the community and the competencies of the Community Police Department to spread and preserve social values in society by combatting harmful habits, monitor and study negative behavioral phenomena and develop appropriate awareness solutions and programs, stressing the importance of cooperation between all relevant authorities on educating the target groups. The National Team for the Protection of Children from Violence comprises of representatives from ministries and entities concerned with Child Protection in Qatar and was established by the decision of Her Excellency Minister of Public Health in 2021. The "Better Together" workshop discussed all information relevant to child protection services provided in Qatar, such as how to access them and the entities’ hotline numbers dedicated to answer inquiries and provide consultations. Notably, the awareness workshop comes in implementing one of the National Team for Child Protection against Violence competencies: establishing an educational program that contributes to achieving awareness of child abuse.
