JK-WIN READY TO SIGN POLITICAL CONTRACT WITH STUDENTS

Jakarta, June 13 (ANTARA) - The national campaign team of the Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto presidential and vice presidential candidate pair is ready to sign a political contract with the Indonesian Students Executive Board (BEM-SI), a spokesman said.

"We are ready to sign a political contract with BEM-SI if it really represents the aspirations of all students across the country," JK-Win national campaign team spokesman Indra Piliang said here on Saturday.

Piliang said the team was ready to sign the political contract with the students any time because they were also part of the Indonesian people.

"Our presidential candidate will of course pay attention to the students' aspirations. And thus we will receive whoever, including the students comes to the JK-Win command post," Piliang said.

For students to express their aspirations, Piliang said, they should do so by way of dialogs instead of staging protest rallies.

Meanwhile, the campaign team of the Megawati-Prabowo (Mega-Pro) ticket was also reported to sign a political contract with Indonesian students on June 16, 2009.

"We are going to sign the political contract with Indonesian students on June 16 ,2009," Mega-Pro campaign team spokesman Hasto Kristianto said.

According to Kristianto, political contracts would be signed with all Indonesian students represented by BEM-SI and other student organizations.

"We are going to talk about the national education system as a supporting element in a people-oriented economy instead of the abolishment of the law on educational legal entities (BHP)," Kristianto said.

He said talk on people-oriented economy would be useless if it was not supported by a matching national education system.

"The spirit of nationalism should be strengthened. If food experts in Indonesia are able to invent kinds of food that can replace wheat, the country no longer needs to import wheat," he said.
