OIC Secretary General Hails Kingdom's Initiative to Provide Humanitarian Aid Worth $100 Million for Sudanese People

Jeddah, May 07, 2023, SPA -- The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, commended the humanitarian initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to support the Sudanese people.
Upon directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) will provide various humanitarian aid at a value of $100 million, and organize a popular campaign through the “Sahem” platform for the benefit of the Sudanese people.
The OIC Secretary General expressed his thanks to the wise leadership for this initiative and generous support, which comes within the framework of the Kingdom's well-established and long-standing policies in promoting Islamic solidarity and advocacy of Muslim peoples, especially in times of crisis.
He renewed his urgent appeal to the member states of the OIC, financial and humanitarian institutions, and international donors to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to Sudan in light of the deteriorating humanitarian situation currently afflicting the country.
Moreover, the Secretary General also renewed his call on donors and international partners to promptly provide medical supplies and health services to Sudan and to support the efforts of Sudan's neighbouring countries in hosting many Sudanese and foreign refugees.
