Cabinet Holds Weekly Meeting

Doha, May 10 (QNA) - HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held on Wednesday at its seat at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, HE the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs issued the following statement:
At the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet hailed the results of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's official talks with HE Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak on Friday, as part of His Highness' visit to London to participate in the coronation ceremony of HM King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The Cabinet affirmed that the discussions that included several emerging regional and international issues, as well as bilateral cooperation and its promotion in various fields, reflected the depth and strength of the historical and strategic relations between the two friendly countries, and their common aspirations to develop their economic partnership and strengthen their efforts to maintain regional security and world peace.
The Cabinet renewed the State of Qatar's welcome to the ongoing pre-negotiation talks in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, expressing hope that this step would open the way towards a permanent ceasefire, which would end the suffering of the Sudanese people and restore security and stability for Sudan.
The Cabinet considered the topics on its agenda as follows:
First - The Cabinet was informed of the Shura Council's approval of a draft law amending some provisions of the Customs Law promulgated by Law No. 40 of 2002.
Second - The Cabinet approved a draft law issuing a law regulating postal services and referred it to the Shura Council.
The draft law has been prepared to develop the postal sector in Qatar.
The draft law stipulated, among other things, that the concession granted to the Qatar Postal Services Company shall continue until the expiration of the concession period or its cancellation, in accordance with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 16 of 2009 transforming the General Postal Corporation into a Qatari Shareholding Company, and no person may provide any postal services without obtaining a license to do so from the Communications Regulatory Authority.
Third - Approval of:
1- A draft cabinet decision to issue the executive regulations for the Social Insurance Law promulgated by Law No. (1) of 2022.
2- A draft Cabinet decision to issue the executive regulations for Law No. (2) of 2022 regarding military retirement.
3- A draft Cabinet decision to form a dispute settlement committee at the General Authority for Retirement and Social Security, its work system, and the rules and procedures to be followed before it.
4- A draft Cabinet decision regarding the conditions for early retirement entitlement.
Fourth - Approval of:
1- A draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of civil aviation between the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the State of Qatar and the Civil Aviation Authority in the Bahamas.
2- Ratification of a memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation in the field of ports between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Fifth - The Cabinet reviewed the periodic report on preparing to host the 2023 Doha Horticultural Expo and took the appropriate decision regarding it. (QNA)
