Minister of Transport Participates in Middle East Rail

 

 

Abu Dhabi, May 15 (QNA) - HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif bin Ahmed Al Sulaiti participated in the opening session of the 17th edition of Middle East Rail, which opened Monday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) in the UAE, with the presence of a number of Their Excellencies Ministers of Transport, chairpersons and CEOs of some of the world’s largest railroad companies, in addition to key figures and manufacturing companies’ representatives of the transportation industry.

    Highlighting aspects of ecofriendly and sustainable transportation, the two-day event is a platform for government and private sectors to showcase their best practices in the field of railway networks and sustainable transit systems considering the visions of the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia region. It also aims at laying out plans and schemes for cooperation toward a better future in the railroad sector.

    On the sidelines of his participation, HE the Minister of Transport visited the State of Qatar’s pavilion, which features the Ministry of Transport and Qatar Rail. The event’s exhibition features hundreds of exhibitors and some 6000 participants from around the world.

    Qatar has over the past ten years seen a significant progress in the field of railroad transportation. Its metro and tram systems are among the most important modes of modern, sustainable, and ecofriendly transportation, integrated with the country’s public transit systems, thus supporting the Qatar National Vision 2030.
