Somali President Invites Qatari Business People to Invest in His Country

 
 
Doha, May 18 (QNA) - HE President of the Federal Republic of Somali Hassan Sheikh Mohamud praised the close relations between his country and the State of Qatar, stressing the role that can be performed by the private sector in enhancing the commercial relations between both countries.
This came Thursday during His Excellency's meeting with a delegation from Qatar Chamber led by its Chairman HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the trading and investment relations between both countries and the means to enhance them, in addition to the role of private sector on both sides in developing these relations and promoting the two countries' bilateral trade exchange.
The Somali President touched on the investment climate in his country and the incentives it offers for investments, calling Qatari businessmen to explore the opportunities available in Somalia in establishing projects in various sectors.
He said that Somalia welcomes Qatari investors in a number of important sectors such as infrastructure, services, mining, livestock, fisheries, oil, gas and others, pointing out that Somalia offers a stimulating investment climate and a lot of incentives for foreign investors.
Somalia is characterized by a distinguished geographical location in Africa, and has the longest coast in the continent, and it also has the largest number of livestock in Africa, he said pointing that his country exports livestock to a number of countries through its four ports, where the State of Qatar can import what it needs from the livestock through these ports.
On his part, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani said that the Qatari private sector is keen to enhance cooperation with its Somalian counterpart, noting that there are many Qatari companies that are interested to invest in Somalia.
His Excellency noted that the Qatar Chamber is interested in encouraging Qatari businessmen to invest in brotherly countries that offer attractive investment opportunities such as Somalia. (QNA)
