ISRAEL'S CONDITIONS DIFFICULT TO MEET : FOREIGN MINISTER
Jakarta, June 17 (ANTARA) - Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda said here on Tuesday Israel's conditions for a two-state solution could not possibly be met by Palestine.
"It will even only disrupt efforts to revive dialogues and negotiations between Palestine and Israel," he said responding to questions on the recent Israeli statement about Palestinian independence.
Israel in its recent statement set requirements for Palestinian independence which include Palestine's demilitarization, maintainance of Israeli resettlement development and Israeli control of Jerusalem.
Hassan said hopefully the conditions which would impossibly be met by Palestine would serve as a mere positioning effort set before "the two finally conduct negotiatons to reach an agreement."
He said during negotiations sometimes a party set the highest standard, which it was aware that it could not be achieved.
"Let us just see if these conditions were made as a way to prevent dialogues or to reflect Netanyahu's hardline stance or as signs of a shift in position from being unilateral so far," he said.
