Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, June 16 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers' editorials published Friday highlighted the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to the Republic of Iraq, and its implications for the development of relations between the two countries and the Qatari and Iraqi peoples. The newspapers emphasized that the timing of HH the Amir's visit has great implications and many benefits for the two brotherly countries, as it comes at a period when the Qatari and Iraqi sides seek to upgrade relations to the stage of strategic partnership. It also comes in light of many important developments taking place in the world, which require coordination and consultation at the highest levels. The newspapers indicated that the visit and discussions between HH the Amir and the Prime Minister of the brotherly Republic of Iraq Mohammed Shia Al Sudani, represented a new shift in relations, where it reflects the sincere desire of the two countries to enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of energy, investment, trade and development, as well as coordination and consultation on various regional and international developments of common interest. In this regard, and under the title "Qatar and Iraq... Strategic Alliance and Investment Prospects", Al-Raya newspaper emphasized its editorial today that Qatar has always been a supporter of the security, unity, stability and prosperity of Iraq. The newspaper said that the development of Qatari-Iraqi relations would reflect positively on achieving cooperation and common interests for the two brotherly peoples. In light of the challenges and crises afflicting the region, both Doha and Baghdad find themselves calling for more openness in relations and coordination at the highest levels, and from this standpoint came the official talks session held by His Highness and the Iraqi Prime Minister. Al-Raya added that the Qatari-Iraqi relations are deeply rooted in history, and have always been an example to follow, especially in the pivotal moments in the history of the Arab nation. Qatar has always supported the security and stability of Iraq as it is an active member of its Arab and Islamic milieu, and seeks to place its relations with Iraq within an institutional framework in order to make optimal use of the capabilities of the two countries through the expansion of joint agreements and memorandums of understanding. Under the title "solid relations", Al-Watan newspaper confirmed in its editorial today that His Highness's visit to Baghdad is of special importance, as it coincides with many important developments and developments in the region and the world, which require coordination and consultation at the highest levels. The newspaper expected that this visit would contribute to raising the level of coordination between the two countries regarding various topical issues through bilateral consultations and in Arab and international forums, and opening horizons for economic, commercial and investment cooperation between the two countries, in a way that serves the common interests of their two brotherly peoples. 

For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper considered in its editorial today, which came under the title "His Highness's visit to Iraq ... solid relations and fruitful results," that the official visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al- Thani to the Republic of Iraq, constituted a milestone in the history of the close brotherly relations between the two brotherly countries, given the great results made out from the visit, foremost of which is the announcement of HH the Amir's intention to invest USD five billion in a number of sectors in Iraq in the coming years, in addition to signing a number of agreements. The newspaper stressed that the cooperation and partnership demonstrated by the visit of HH the Amir reflects the continuation of the State of Qatar's strong support for the unity and stability of Iraq, its restoration of its important role in the region and the world, and the support of the Iraqi people in achieving their aspirations for security and development. Under the title "Historical and Brotherly Relations", Al-Arab newspaper said in its editorial today that the official visit of His Highness to Iraq gives relations between the two brotherly countries a qualitative boost in all fields, in light of what the visit entails of official discussions between the two leaderships dealing with brotherhood and cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them in various fields. The newspaper expected that this official visit would contribute not only to developing the already existing relations between the two countries, but also to moving them to advanced stages of strategic partnerships, especially in the economic, trade and investment fields, for the benefit of the two countries and their brotherly peoples. Al-Arab added that there is no doubt that the Qatari-Iraqi relations are of great importance to the entire region, recalling the quantum leap that these relations witnessed since 2018, after the visit of His Highness to Iraq and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries, in addition to the intensification of mutual visits between the two parties to activate all kinds of economic and commercial cooperation. The newspaper concluded by saying that these official visits are expected to achieve more convergence in the political and economic field in terms of promoting investment and expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two countries in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples, especially in light of the confirmation of the official spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs that his country's foreign policy focuses on strengthening partnership with the State of Qatar, the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and all international partners, especially in light of the presence of strategic projects put forward by the Iraqi government, and is working on implementing them to develop the financial, business and investment sectors. In the same context, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula said in its editorial today under the title "Boost to Qatar-Iraq ties with Amir's visit" that the State of Qatar and the Republic of Iraq enjoy distinct and solid relations based on brotherhood, common religion, cultural values, destiny, interests, goals, ambitions, fraternal cooperation, and historical ties that go back to the ancient history that united the two countries. The people of the two countries are bound by distinguished brotherly relations based on the bonds of rapprochement, social cohesion, and common denominators. The newspaper stressed that Qatar-Iraq relations are steadily rising thanks to the continuous high-level contact between the two countries’ leaderships and at various ministerial levels, pointing out that the official visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Iraq comes within the context of continuous consultation and coordination aimed at serving the interest of the two peoples, promoting peace, security, stability, and prosperity in the region and worldwide.
