Qatar's Ministry Of Sports And Youth Celebrates To Mark Arab Youth Day

Doha, July 05 (QNA) - Ministry of Sports and Youth, represented by Youth Affairs Department, celebrated to mark Arab Youth Day which falls on July 5 each year, as approved by the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers for Youth and Sports in its 66th session to celebrate this day in the aforementioned date. The celebration was intended to attract attention of the Arab community to youth issues and pays tribute to their potential as key partners in the region's communities. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Fawaz Al Mesaifri said the department prepared an integrated programme for this event with a wide range of youth events that aimed to extend bridges of love and promote bonds among Arab youth in recognition of the vital role played by Arab youth in developing their communities and advancing them, as well as finding solutions to numerous problems. Stemming from the fact that Qatari youth -who boast of their national identity and affiliation to Arab nation- are part and parcel of the Arab youth component and can play an influential role in this surrounding, a broad range of youth events were organized to mark this occasion in many youth centers in Qatar through a wide programme with the summer activity, Al Mesaifri added, pointing out that the department was keen to lay out a variety of programmes that varied between recreational, awareness raising and sporting events, in addition to the recreational aspect such as workshops and courses. He outlined that the programme dedicated to this occasion came to empower Qatari youth and instill the spirit of responsibility in their hearts and train conscious and patriotic youth in commensurate with the vision of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and its strategies to serve Qatar's national policy for youth that was recently approved in May 2023. The ministry's activities included a myriad of events to mark this occasion the chief of which was the forum organized by Qatar Youth Hostels on Wednesday in partnership with its counterparts in a number of Arab states for the convergence of youth from each country. During the virtual meeting held on Zoom platform, head of volunteers at Qatar Youth Hostels Fatima Al Sulaiti stressed the importance of youth as a vital force and driver of change in communities, adding that youth represent the next generation that will lead the future and face a variety of challenges, pointing out that granting them the opportunity and support to upgrade their skills, talents and bolstering their engagement in the social and economic process are vital to achieve progress and prosperity in Arab communities. The forum showcased the traditions of each Arab country in celebration of Eid Al-Adha between the past and present, in collaboration with Arab Union of Youth Hostels Associations and with the participation of 22 attendees representing the participating youth hostels associations. Vice president of Barzan Youth Centre Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al-Thani said Barzan Centre held events of Arab Youth Day that featured intellectual and sports contests where youth participated in many games, pointing out that contests extend bridges of communication between various youth centers. In a statement to QNA, Chief of the Simaisma and Al-Daayen Youth Center Nawaf Al Mudhahka said the celebration to mark Arab Youth Day this year aimed to promote communication and cooperation among Arab youth in the region, pointing out that the event was intended to promote awareness on youth's role in building and developing their communities and encouraging them to actively engage in development process and exploring solutions to their problems.
