Albudaiwi: GCC States Support Yemen in Light of Constitutional Legitimacy, Represented by Presidential Leadership Council
Riyadh, August 31, 2023, SPA -- The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, said that the Cooperation Council countries support the Republic of Yemen in light of constitutional legitimacy, represented by the Presidential Leadership Council.
This came during a meeting held today in Aden, the Republic of Yemen, between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Yemen, Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed, and the GCC Secretary General.
During the meeting, the officials discussed the latest developments in the economic situation in the Republic of Yemen and the major role played by the Yemeni government in strengthening security and stability. They also reviewed the affirmations mentioned in the Gulf summits with regards to the strategic partnership between the GCC and Yemen, achieving peace and preserving the unity and sovereignty of Yemen, considering the strategic depth it represents as a factor of stability in the region.
The GCC Secretary General stressed the keenness of the GCC countries to support Yemen and achieve integration between the Yemeni and Gulf economies in all fields, as well as the political solution based on the three terms of reference represented by the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference (NDC) and Security Council Resolution No. 2216, representing the GCC countries’ recognition of the importance of achieving the aspirations of the Yemeni people to reach the desired peace, in a way that preserves Yemen’s security and stability, which has its impacts on stability in the region.
