Vice Foreign Minister Participates in 160th Arab League Council Ministerial Session

Cairo, September 06, 2023, SPA -- The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, participated today in the 160th ordinary session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level in Cairo.
El-Khereiji represented the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, at the session. In his address at the Arab League's General Secretariat meeting, El-Khereiji emphasized that the world is currently confronting numerous challenges and difficulties across various domains. He stressed the imperative need to unite and intensify Arab efforts while elevating the level of coordination and consultation among Arab states.
The Vice Foreign Minister also underscored the importance of enhancing collaborative efforts among Arab nations to fulfil the developmental and prosperity aspirations of Arab leaders and their populations. Additionally, he emphasized the significance of regional security, stability, peace, and cooperation.
Furthermore, El-Khereiji highlighted the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes, noting that Saudi Arabia has provided aid totalling US$95 billion to 160 countries over the past seven decades, establishing the Kingdom as a leading contributor to humanitarian and developmental assistance.
El-Khereiji reaffirmed the Kingdom's strong endorsement of peace as the primary strategic choice for Arab countries. He expressed support for expedited negotiations to achieve a comprehensive and equitable solution in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, to meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
El-Khereiji condemned the aggression, unilateral measures, and repeated provocations by Israeli occupation forces, emphasizing their detrimental impact on the peace process.
The Vice Minister stressed that the return of Syria to the Arab fold would have a positive impact on resolving its crisis. He reiterated the Kingdom's support for all efforts to formulate a political solution to the Syrian crisis, one that preserves the country's territorial integrity, security, stability, and Arab identity. He also reiterated the Kingdom's demand for the withdrawal of all foreign forces and militant groups from Syria, citing the risks they pose to Syria and the entire region.
Regarding Sudan, the Vice Minister expressed deep concern about the stalled talks aimed at ending the conflict and establishing a permanent ceasefire agreement. Such an agreement is crucial to resuming political dialogue and preventing further suffering for the Sudanese people.
El-Khereiji called on the international community to intensify efforts to establish a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction. He stressed the need for continued and intensified efforts to combat terrorism and took a firm stance against countries that sponsor and support terrorism and radicalism.
