Qatar's Charge d'Affaires in El Salvador to QNA: HH the Amir's Visit Further Elevates Qatar-El Salvador Solid Ties
San Salvador, September 13 (QNA) - HE Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of El Salvador Fahad bin Salem Al Marri hailed the existing relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of El Salvador as strong and developed, highlighting that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's visit to the Republic of El Salvador reflects years-long efforts to bolster bilateral relations between the two countries and elevate them to broader horizons.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Al Marri said HH the Amir's visit would be an opportunity to seal five agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries on agriculture, livestock, military cooperation, health, and legal and Public Prosecution, a move towards further cooperation on issues of common interest.
His Excellency discussed the phases of Qatar-El Salvador bilateral diplomatic relations since both countries signed an agreement to establish diplomatic relations on Sep. 24, 2003. Since then, the relations have consolidated and maintained gradual development.
HE Al Marri added that bilateral multi-field partnership relations have consolidated through the exchange of high-level visits, the development of various forms of cooperation and the signing of 14 agreements and MoUs in various fields of bilateral cooperation. The agreements covered areas of education, higher education, scientific research, youth and sports, air services, political consultations, news, cooperation between central banks, mutual exemption from visas for holders of diplomatic passports, tourism, culture, as well as cooperation between the Republic of El Salvador's Supreme Court of Justice and the State of Qatar's Supreme Judiciary Council and twinning and cooperation between the capital cities of the two countries.
Under HE President of the Republic of El Salvador Nayib Armando Bukele, the country has been a strategic ally of the State of Qatar through supporting Qatari nominees for various UN international bodies and organizations, HE Al Marri said, highlighting that the State of Qatar is a priority on the agenda of the El Salvadoran government, which attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Qatar and always expresses unwavering approach to develop and strengthen them. His Excellency also stressed that El Salvador had maintained a firm position in support of the positions of the State of Qatar.
The State of Qatar, for its part, supported the Republic of El Salvador in providing the basic needs for families affected by a tropical storm and for the Sports Committee of the Nejapa region and contributed to the purchase of some medications for Sonsunate Municipality, His Excellency added.
Qatar also made donations for El Salvador to teach Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff Arabic language, support a program to develop competencies and capabilities of the country's National Civil Police personnel, face the health emergencies over Covid-19 pandemic, help Salvadoran Red Cross purchase medical and personal protective equipment for volunteers and medical workers, and renovate some mosques.
