OIC Secretary-General Meets with EU High Representative

Jeddah, September 20, 2023, SPA -- Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha met today with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, held in New York.
The OIC Secretary-General briefed the EU High Representative on the content of the resolution issued by the extraordinary meeting of the Council of the OIC Foreign Ministers on the crimes of desecration and burning copies of the Holy Quran in Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, held in July 2023.
Josep Borrell emphasized that the European Union strongly condemns these actions and considers them as insults to the sanctities of others. He also mentioned that a representative has been appointed to specifically address and combat Islamophobia.
