JK-WIRANTO PAIR TO BE HISTORIC PILLAR IN NATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Jayapura, Indonesia, June 20 (ANTARA) - Presidential aspirant Jusuf Kalla said he and his running mate Wiranto (JK-Wiranto pair) would be an historic pillar of national leadership if they win the July presidential election.
Speaking in a dialogic campaign here on Saturday, Kalla said the historic pillar in the national leadership he meant was that anybody from any province in the country could have an opportunity to become president and vice president.
"If Wiranto and I are elected, we will be an historic pillar to prove that anybody from any province in the country can be the the leader of this nation based purely on their capabilities," Kalla said during the campaign at Cendrawasi Sport Stadium here on Saturday.
The campaign was attended by thousands of Papua people, including Governor Barnabas Suebu, hundreds of community figures, and cadres and sympathizers of the Golkar Party,the People's Conscience Party (Hanura), and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
Kalla said that to be the leader of this nation it was not determined by where one was born but by his or her capabilities as a leader.
"I am from Bugis Makassar origin and if I am elected as president, it means that some day someone from Papua or Maluku or Kalimantan or Sumatra can also become the leader of this nation," Kalla said.
Therefore, he promised to maintain the unity and integrity of this nation and to ensure welfare for all people if he became president.
"I will apply effective government and autonomic system to support a democratic government with bottom up aspiration," Kalla said.
On the occasion, the presidential candidate from Golkar Party also expressed appreciation to Jayapura football club, Persipura's success in the Indonesian League.
"If Persipura can become champion in the Indonesial League, the other teams can also become champion," Kalla said.***
